ZHOU Tao Solo Exhibition
Short introduction:
Zhou Tao is not only a reporter in the Features department of Shanghai Daily, but also spends considerable time thinking about the meaning and value of life in his spare time, which goes through the past, to the present, and into the future. By using his comprehension of these meaning and value, he presents them through his paintings.
"In Honor of Dante, Episode I, Redemption," is his latest work in the past three years. The 44 paintings deliver social messages of today, including truth, vagueness and fabrication, through symbolical and humorous approaches in both media (acrylic and computer), and most of all, in an epic-like way.
As a young artist who learns from the past for the future, Zhou depicts the reality of the dramatically transforming society, in the social-criticism spirit and out of his personal situation. The hero of the story, who actually is the artist himself, provides a point of view and a perspective that guides the viewers to complete an adventurous experience, together with him, both as happening and being.
