Island 6 Arts Center presenta Laugh Now Cry Later, presentazione di 10 artisti emergenti di New York. Laugh Now Cry Later The term "culture shock" was introduced for the first time in 1954 by anthropologist Kalvero Oberg as "a sense of confusion and uncertainty sometimes with feelings of anxiety that may affect people exposed to an alien culture without adequate preparation." In the midst of this anxiety slips an exchange of ideas and images that are experienced before fully understood. In between experiencing a foreign environment and comprehending the relevance of such journeys, the artist as traveler creates a hybrid of visual language that bridges the gap between sensation and intellect in an international context. |
